Luke Aston of the Clare Dragoon and Sean Maguire of Lady Gwen are back again this week to give a few updates on the charter boat fishing around Loop Head and the Shannon Estuary where the fishing is not bad but mackerel are scarce…

21 May: Turned into a lovely day on the sea even with a fresh SW breeze. Fishing was slower on the ebb but a big shoal of Grey Gurnard on the ground with triple shots all round. On the flood the whitefish started coming and we had plenty of Pollack and Coalfish with some Ling, Haddock, Red Gurnard and Whiting. – Clare Dragoon
After a wet and windy start it turned out quite a nice day at sea. We had to search for fish but fishing was good, and we rounded the day off with a few dozen mackerel. – Lady Gwen

22 May: Another rolly day on the sea but lovely sunshine makes you forget about that! Fishing was fine with the normal pollack and Coalfish about also some nice haddock and this cod over 11lbs. – Clare Dragoon
Nice sunshine again today. Fishing was slow in the morning until the tide turned and then we had quite good fishing in the afternoon. – Lady Gwen
Go fishing…
