On their first trip to Ireland Eric and Elisabeth Boulet from Centre-Val de Loire in France set aside two days to fish in the Boyne Valley with angling guide Peter Cunningham. The cold weather and high water conditions did not assist matters but Eric and Elisabeth managed to catch their very first wild brown trout on the fly even though it was their very first time fly-fishing. The trout on the Stoneyford were small but it was good to see some fish caught under the conditions. No fish were rising, despite the fact that some olives including large dark olives, were hatching.

On the second day Eric and Elisabeth visited Barnattin reservoir just outside Drogheda with Peter and they managed to catch 8 nice rainbows. Not a bad result considering the adverse conditions.
