Lindsey Clarke reports from LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 14th February  to Sunday 20th March 2016.

The settled weather over the last week meant there was a big improvement in the trout fishing. The early sedges hatched on a number of days and catches of Gillaroo and Sonaghan were good over many of the shallow water marks and shorelines. The only salmon I have heard of to date was Stephen Kennedy’s 8lb salmon that was caught trolling in Farrell’s Bay. The forecast for the coming weekend seems to indicate that the blocking high pressure we have been enjoying will not persist but there will be lovely conditions to be out and afloat over the weekdays at least.
