Lindsey Clarke reports from LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 28th March to Sunday 3rd April 2016.
The greater part of the week was reasonably settled and a few boats ventured out. I have heard little in the way of salmon caught but the trout fishing has been good with most rods fishing wets and decent sized trout recorded. All catches have been from the shallow water marks and at this stage of the season the Sonaghan are still in their shallow water winter haunts. In the next number of weeks the deeper water marks should start to fish as greater daylight hours mean the plankton start to bloom. For now, shallow water areas should be targeted. And you can always encounter a salmon there too.
