Portumna Coarse Angling Club reports on the week’s events:
Sat 17/04/2016  The fishing wasn’t great on Saturday on a rising river but the Salmon Run produced a lovely 7lb 12oz Ferox for Danny Hopkins of Birmingham. Caught on the pole the fish was quickly weighed and released back to the water alive.

Well done to Matt Kemmy winning the open with 20lbs.
Sun 18/04/2016 – Spring Festival – Day One
Over a third of the 30 anglers taking part in the Waterways Ireland Festival have travelled over from the UK to fish. The first day’s registration and draw took place at Curley’s Bar our loyal sponsors over the years providing the lads with a hearty breakfast before heading off to their pegs.

Five sections of the River Shannon are included – Meelick, Salmon Run, Rogers, Town and Stick Ups and it was the town that threw up the biggest weight of 29lbs 4oz today for Craig Haughton. The festival is based on points with Teams of 3 based on weight. Looking forward to a good week!
