The Paddys Weekend Festival has been won by Julian Kendrick with a fantastic 3-day weight of 42.620kg! This exciting event was fished from the 18th to the 20th of March. But before that got under way there was the matter of the St. Patricks Day Open to settle. Inniscarra TDL reports…
St Patrick’s Day
The St Patrick’s Day’s Open was fished in very windy conditions, so not too many poles were taken out of the bag. First was Peter Jones 11.320kg, 2nd was Steve Thorpe 8.540kg, 3rd Ray Linton.
Saturday – Day 1 St Patrick’s’ Weekend Festival
The 3 Day St Patrick’s’ Weekend Festival got under way with very windy conditions again for most so the tip was the method of choice but the pole and whip were able to be used in places.
Winner today was Trevor Platt with 14.560kg, 2nd Ireland Youth International Hayden Kellegher 10.900kg and 3rd was James Carty with 9.500kg
Sunday
There were better conditions on the Lake for the second day of the festival, with the wind not as bad as the last couple of days. The pole and whip came into their own on B & C sections whilst A section struggled.
Trevor Platt lies first with a top weight of 32kg after his 18.020kg catch today!
2nd weight of the day was 15.400kg for Julian Kendrick and 13.740kg for was Andy Cranston U25 England International now placed festival third.
Duncan Lennox, Jackie Lennox Chip Shop Cork presented Trevor Platt with his winning prize for day 1 of the competition.
Monday
Storm force 9 met the anglers on the last day of the competition on the lake with swells of nearly a meter high which made for extremely difficult conditions to fish in. The waters rose 2 foot but there was still some good fishing to be had.
Julian won today with 18,860kg from Rooves Bay, 2nd was Gary Drew with 13.180kg and 3rd was Nicki Harrisson with 11.380kg.
Congratulations to Julian our first festival winner of the year. Julian is an Edenderry based angler but an Coachford Co. Cork regular. In second place overall is Trev Platt with 34.720kg and in third another Cork angler Ken Ince with 29620. Well done to England’s U25 Youth International Andy Cranston who came in 4th with 25.180kg.
Again thanks must go to Duncan Lennox and Jackie Lennox Chip Shop for their support for this festival. Thanks to to Eileen Martin and Pat & their staff at O’Callaghans Bar & Guest House who looked after us so well over the weekend. And of course to all the anglers most of whom had travelled great distances to attend. We hope to see you all back soon.
Go fishing…
