Salmon angling on the River Moy has been rather slow over the past weeks. As high water levels persisted for most of the time angling effort has been low. One of the very few detailed catch reports received came from the Mount Falcon Fishery where Michael English had 5 salmon over three days, best at 7 lbs.  Elsewhere, Serge Pinet, France, had 3 fish on spinner between 4 lbs. and 7 lbs. on Cloongee. Also on Cloongee, Brendan Cooke, Offaly, caught an eight pounder on spinner. Further upriver on the East Mayo Water, German visitor, Matthias Engels, had a reasonably good week with a total of 5 salmon (2 released) averaging 4 lbs. on spinner and fly.

However, with a reported catch of 6600 fish (+1,041 on 2016), so far, the River Moy remains Ireland’s most productive salmon river and anglers are looking forward to the last 10 days of this year’s salmon season!
