Some updates from the Munster Blackwater where a few salmon have been caught in recent days…
22 April: Yesterday the Bandon Angling Association held their annual fly fishing tuition day with Bandon Scouts on the River Blackwater with Glenda Powell. A fantastic day was enjoyed by all who attended with much learnt by everyone involved. The Bandon Anglers gave their appreciation to Inland Fisheries Ireland for sponsoring the event, Glenda Powell for educating everyone in the art of fishing plus Bandon Scouts leaders and Bandon Angling Association members for helping out on the day.
24 April: Visiting angler Ian Dolley from the U.K landed a beautiful fish of 10lbs this evening off the Fortwilliam Fishery’s House beat on the Ellis stream. Conditions were perfect and the cold spell it might slow them down a bit.
Gauge .25m.
25 April: Very well done to Rodger Burke who landed a lovely fish of 12lbs at Ballyduff Bridge.
26 April: Jason Corcoran with a cracking fish of around 10lbs at the Ballyduff Bridge fishery this evening on a CCK Partridge.
For those not in the know a CCK is a Connie Corcoran Killer. A fly made up for Connie by Ali Hutchens for his 70th. There’s no other fly like it in the world according to Connie’s son.

Blackwater Salmon Fishery
Blackwater Salmon Fishery has 3 beats downstream of the weir and 2 upstream of the weir. Blackwater Salmon Fishery offers fishing on approximately 5 miles of the river Blackwater. The fishing is spread throughout the middle section of the river to offer good sport throughout the fishing season. Due to the location of the beats, fishing can still usually be offered in low or high water.

Ballyduff Bridge Salmon Fishery
Ballyduff Bridge fisheries control a number of beats of the Munster Blackwater. The Ballyduff Bridge beat is almost a mile long offering a huge variety of water and is particularly suited to fly fishing. Upstream near the village of Ballyhooley (a few miles outside the town of Fermoy, Cork) we have two beats. The Ballincurrig Beat is one of the most beautiful locations along the river and has an excellent piece of fly water flowing into a deep pool. Just downstream on the opposite bank we have a short but productive beat, called Magners. This beat fishes also well in high water.
