Charter boat anglers on the Shannon Estuary and around the Clare coast are doing well…
16 June: The Clare Dragoon got some weather that let them get back out fishing. Picked up some Mackerel in lower estuary but it was still a bit bumpy for the crew so they headed back in for their first go of the Tope this year. Had them at the baits in no time and picked up a few.
17 June: There was a great bunch of well able seamen out on Lady Gwen II, with good fishing and plenty of craic.
18 June: What a fantastic day, and even better on the Ocean. The Lady Gwen II is hoping to get plenty more like this…
Summer time again on the Clare Dragoon! Just beautiful on the sea today and maybe because the drift was slow the Pollack gave the anglers a chance to fish the bottom and they upped the species count. Some nice Gurnard and Haddock through the catch.
19 June: Lovely day on the sea for the Clare Dragoon although the northerly breeze freshened in the afternoon. For the first time this year they were meet at the Loop by lots of birds feeding and indeed the Mackerel where there in force, always a good start.
The drift further off was slow but the fishing was steady with a good few Ling in the catch. They headed for the shelter of the land as the breeze freshened and had a few nice wrasse.
20 June: Good start to the day for the Clare Dragoon with plenty Mackerel and a drift at the wrasse. Then up north for a whitefish drift. In the afternoon they headed back in to a Tope mark where they had non stop action with 12 Tope to the boat in a frantic hour and a half.
