Sunday 26th August 2018 (3 weeks).

The week from the 6th to the 12th brought only low to fair water levels and the gauge average read 0.15 metres. The following week brought better levels with big floods at the weekend on the 18th & 19th. The gauge average for the week read a high 0.30 metres. The 3rd week from the 20th to the 26th saw the good water levels continue with floods on most days. The gauge average read an impressive 0.36 metres.

Angling was light over the 1st week from the 6th to the 12th with only 11 visiting rods fishing. Alan Watson recorded a 7lb salmon caught & released on a fly from beat 7.

The week from the 13th to the 19th was busier with 28 visiting rods fishing and there were good numbers of salmon caught with 18 caught on the Saturday alone! On Monday, Davy Arbuckle recorded a 5lb grilse caught & released on a fly from beat 8. On the Thursday, Anthony Carr reported 3 salmon weighing 5, 5 & 9lb caught & released on fly from beat 4. On Saturday, Joe Early recorded 3 salmon weighing 3, 4 & 8lb caught & released on fly from Beat 5. Alan Watson reported a 9lb salmon caught on a fly from beat 7. John Roy caught & released 2 grilse on fly from beat 5. Anthony Carr had a good day reporting 3 grilse weighing from 3 to 5lb caught & released on fly from beat 3. Brian Robb also had a good day reporting 4 salmon weighing 3, 7, 8 & 10lb caught & released on fly from beat 5 and Sam McMenamin had a wonderful day reporting 5 salmon caught weighing 3, 5, 6, 8 & 14lb caught & released on fly from beats 3, 4 & 6. On the following day, Sunday, Sam recorded another grilse weighing 4lb caught on fly from beat 5.

The 3rd week from the 20th to the 26th was busier still with 34 visiting anglers in attendance. During the higher water periods the river fished fairly well with decent numbers of salmon caught. On Wednesday, Sam McMenamin recorded a 5lb grilse caught & released on fly from beat 4. On Friday, Jim McLean reported 4 salmon weighing 4, 4, 6 & 8lb caught and released on a spinner from beat 8. Billy Blair logged a 3lb grilse caught & released on fly from beat 5 and Davy Arbuckle accounted for a 3lb grilse caught & released on a fly from beat 6. On Saturday, James Compston reported a 10lb salmon caught & released on a fly from beat 3. Alan Watson reported 2 grilse weighing 3lb each caught & released on fly from beat 7 and Brian Robb accounted for 3 salmon weighing 5, 9 & 10lb caught & released on fly from beat 5. On Sunday, Alan Watson reported a 9lb salmon caught & released on fly from beat 9.
