Monday 26th August  to Sunday 1st September 2019.

The week was very wet and we received some huge floods. The question for most of the week was ’when will it drop?’ Wednesday brought a huge flood (0.70m) but this paled in comparison to one of the highest floods we have seen to date when the gauge read well over 0.90m! There was so much water that it rose above the arches of the bridge in Glenties. A poor horse that lives in the field above was actually washed through one of the arches. Luckily he got out of the river below the Angling Centre and was fine but a few scratches. The gauge average for the week was huge at 0.48 metres. Understandably the river was fairly quiet with only 7 visiting rods fishing over the week. Consequently, there was just the odd fish caught. Alan Watson caught 3 grilse over the week on fly from beats 7 & 8. The first was a small grilse caught on Monday and the other two weighed 3 & 4lb and were caught on Sunday when he also lost a big salmon weighing around 15lb.
