Tom Collins reports from Sea Angling Charters in Union Hall:
On Sunday last, Dublin angler, Gary Blake, caught the fish of a lifetime when a massive porbeagle took his whiting bait fished close to the boat. What followed was an epic battle for Gary during which the record fish took him nine times around the boat. The fish which measured 75 inches fork length and 59 inches girth was estimated to have a weight of 326 lbs. This is by far the biggest porbeagle ever caught on the “Loch an Iasc”!
However, the week produced some other great catches for anglers onboard “Loch an Iasc” including a fantastic common skate of 192 lbs for Colin Benson from Wales.
Colin was part of a Welsh group of anglers which also enjoyed excellent fishing catching a multitude of species off West Cork.
