Adrian Nowotynski from Irish Deep Sea Charters sent us this report on the season so far in West Cork:

Drift fishing has been very good, Codling have turned up in great numbers this year and we’ve been picking up a good few nice size Cod as well.

Not much sign of Mackerel yet but good Pollock have been on the feed since the start of the season.

As well as the Cod we’ve been seeing a large amount of Ling at anchor as well as on the drift.

Ground fishing started slow but this weekend saw a major improvement with numerous Ling to 15lb, the first few conger of the season despite the lack of fresh bait and Pollock to 10lb at anchor.

There’s also a lot of wildlife in the area with hundreds of dolphins, numerous Minke whales and harbour porpoise about on most trips. Our first shark trips are about two weeks away so hoping to have a good showing of Blues by then.
