Stan McKeon of Lough Owel Trout Preservation Association sent in results and photographs from the Dan Mullally Shield fished on Owel last Wednesday 7th August. Bernard Sweeney was top rod with 1.180kg, Alan Tyrrell 2nd with 0.966kg, and 3rd Noel Farrar 0.910kg. Stan told us 36 anglers fished the evening competition and 20 fish were caught, with smaller fish caught by anglers and returned.


This Sunday August 18th  Lough Owel Anglers will host the popular Patti Doolin Perpetual Shield. This fly-fishing competition will be fished from 11am-7pm, with check –in Mullallys and Tullaghan. New members welcome on the day.
