Good fish are great to get no matter what time of year they appear but those that come close to the end of a fishing season help get us through the long winter. John Baker and Boyne Valley Fishing Guides have been out on Lough Sheelin over the last few weeks and John has been in touch to let us know that he has had some very nice trout including one touching on 7lb. It was a beautifully marked fish (see photo below) that by all accounts gave a great fight before being netted, photographed and returned carefully back to the waters of Lough Sheelin. Daddies, sedges and fry patterns seem to be the order of the day and there is a real chance of a very big trout. Surface activity is sporadic with fish been seen on some days and not on others.
