Anglers were keen to get out and about after the Christmas and New Year period and canal fishing provided a close local venue for anglers in and around the Drogheda area. There was some nice perch fishing reported from the Boyne canal at Oldbridge and Donore from the New Year until the recent arrival of Storm Brendan.

Anglers were catching good numbers of small to medium sized perch on small plastic lures on very light tackle but conditions have deteriorated with the arrival of the heavy rain and strong winds. Anglers will again have the opportunity to search out the perch when the weather settles and water drops a bit.
