We thought we’d take a look at which of the rainbow trout fisheries are open for business and which of those are producing the goods………
Waterford Fly Fishing report that Knockaderry has been fishing well lately with some really well conditioned rainbows getting caught, lures, buzzers and dry flies are all working well there.
Annamoe Trout Fishery in Wicklow opens daily from 10am until dusk although the Family Fishing Pond will remain closed until further notice. At present they do not hire out equipment.
In Kilkenny, Ardaire Springs Angling Centre is fishing well, it has been restocked recently with rainbows and brownies including some real monsters close to 20 lbs. Pheasant tail nymphs and hares ear nymphs are catching fish. Their bait lake has also reopened recently but make sure you ring ahead before visiting.
In Cavan, Annagh Lake Rainbow Fishery is open for business but anglers must obey Covid-19 guidelines and strict social distancing is to be maintained while at the fishery. Bookings are taken at Paddy Foynes shop in Butlersbridge tel: 0862344454.
Laois Angling Centre reopened last Saturday June 13th and are operating seven days a week again from 9am until dusk. They look forward to welcoming our anglers once more and their outdoor facilities will ensure social distancing is adhered to.
In Carlow Southern County Fishing Resort will open this coming Saturday and Sunday from 9am-6pm but only persons who intend to fish will be permitted on the lakes. Everyone must be fully equipped with their own fishing tackle as the Southern County Fishing Resort tackle shop will not be reopening until further notice. Each person must have fly/bait rod, barbless hooks, a landing net along with their own flies/bait. Booking is essential. They will be CLOSED for fishing from Monday-Friday (inclusive).
Inland Fisheries Ireland’s own stocked lakes in the south west (Shepperton Lakes, Lough Bofinne, Lough Barfinny and Lough Fada) are also fishing well at the moment, these fisheries have been stocked and angling pressure is low at the moment. Permits can be purchased online to fish these loughs and they are available in our online shop here.
