Luke Aston, skipper of the Clare Dragoon has been showing some young anglers some great sport this week. On a lovely calm day they enjoyed some great fishing on the reefs off Loop Head, with great ling and pollack fishing. They even put out a shark trace and managed 3 porbeagle and a blue shark!

A fantastic ling for this young man
A fine pollack
A lovely fat pollack

Earlier in the week he fished in the estuary with a group and they had tope, bull huss and thornback ray.

Sean Maguire, who skippers the Lady Gwen II, reported a fine porbeagle of 181cm for one of his guests this week.

A fine strong porbeagle of 181cm.

Earlier in the week, fishing up the estuary with a family group, Sean says “young Elliott Glover reeled in his first porbeagle shark that was feeding on our catch. Possibly the first one I know that was caught so far up the Shannon estuary.”

The look says it all. A delighted Elliott Glover with his impressive porbeagle shark, and his family of course.
Happy faces!
