Donegal Bay is still the place to go if you want to catch a tuna this year, and boats are reporting a steady stream of fish being tagged and released. Adrian Molloy of Tuna.ie came off the worse for wear after a struggle with a tuna where the lip grip came out and clocked him on the head. Luckily he didn’t take too bad a blow, and it didn’t stop him from catching a 400lb fish a couple of days later.

Declan McGettigan of Killybegs Fishing Trips is mixing some tuna fishing with general ground trips and is hitting the mark on both counts, with some john dory featuring in his catches.

Ewings Sea Angling and Boat Charters have also been getting good mixed fishing for a range of species in between tuna trips with plenty pollock, cod and ling amongst the species showing up.
