35 members of Newbridge District Pike Anglers hit the banks last weekend for their first competition of the season. They added a bit of variety to the day by mixing canal venues with river venues to give anglers a bit of choice. Most anglers headed for the river swims and that proved to be the better choice. One angler had a very productive day, landing 11 fish for over 49lb, while another angler broke his PB with a fine fish of 19lb, the heaviest fish on the day.

Overall, 72 pike were landed, a very creditable tally for the day. See Newbridge District Pike Anglers Facebook page for the full report.
