Angling Report week ending 23/07/23 

The Moy catchment produced 453 salmon for the week. Many of these came from the early part of the week when the water was dropping and starting to clear.

Waterlevels on the River Moy dropped from 1.5m at Ballylahan on Monday 17th to 0.55m by Friday 21st, before rising quickly to 2.2m on Sunday 23rd as a result of a large amount of rainfall during Saturday. This flood event meant the river was mostly unfishable on Sunday.

Ballina Salmon Anglers: reported 40 grilse ranging from 3lbs. to 5lbs.

Mount Falcon Estate: reported 28 grilse ranging from 3lbs. to 6lbs. on spinning or worm.

Knockmore Salmon Anglers: reported 34 salmon ranging from 3lbs. to 7.5lbs. all on worm.

Attymass Angling Club: reported 7 salmon for the week from The Woodpool and Paddens.

Coolcronan Fishery: reported 9 salmon for the week ranging from 3lbs. to 4.5lbs. using spinning or worm.

Byrne’s Fishery: reported 21 salmon for the week best of which was 10lbs. all on worm.

Gannon’s Fishery: reported 72 salmon for the week best of which was 14.5lbs. on spinning and worm.

The Foxford Fishery: reported 42 salmon for the week on spinning and worm.

Foxford Salmon Anglers: reported 99 salmon for the week, 64 coming from Rinnaney  and 35 from Bakers on spinning and worm.

Local reports for The Foxford Rocks Fishery were of 10 salmon ranging from 3lbs. to 10lbs. on spinning and worm.

East Mayo Anglers Association: reported 91 salmon for the week of which 38 were released, these ranged in weight from 2lbs. to 13lbs. and were caught on fly, spinner and worm.
