David Norman of Angling Adventures West Cork enjoyed a late season session from the kayak at the weekend…

Managed to get out for what surely must be one of the last few kayak fishing trips of 2023. The breeze was light and slightly offshore making for short drifts tight to structure so not really suitable for fly but a dozen or so good sized pollack and a few wrasse were more than happy to hammer my soft plastic paddle tails mainly fished tight to the bottom and sometimes up in the water column. I was seeing massive shoals of sprat on my fish finder, which is the norm at this time of year.

Stay safe out there

With inshore sea temperatures at less than 10°C now, shorter daylight hours and very changeable weather conditions, one must be experienced, very well prepared and extra careful if going afloat on the sea to fish at this time of year…
