West Cork and District report on their latest outing…
WCADSAC were back in action on Saturday night, venue this time Garrylucas Beach, tucked to the western side of the Old Head of Kinsale. A popular beach for all manner of activities and getting busier by the year so we had a late enough start at 9pm in order to avoid impinging on folks enjoying the beach in the recent fine spell of weather. After weeks of easterlies on the morning in question the wind swung to the South and managed to put a reasonable roll on the beach. Not for long enough to bring fish in but still, it was better than fishing into a pond.
The Fishing itself wasn’t brilliant and it was anything but peaceful, there was a gig happening in close proximity and maybe the Cork fish aren’t massively fond of the Reggae and Ska themed barrage they were being subjected to! 20 anglers fished on the night with a return of 36 fish, a mixture of small Bass, Flounder and Dogfish but with the occasional surprise. Terry O’Donovan landed a Huss, a cert on any other night to take the longest roundfish pool but bumped out of that as Sod landed a strap conger. JP had a Plaice midst his bag of fish and Liam Davis managed somehow to catch a small thick lipped Mullet in the dark.
JP finished way out on his own in first with 9 fish for the Senior section with Liam Davis managing 3 bass and his rogue mullet to take the junior section.
