Super surface action on the Inny for Midlands Angling

Mick Flanagan of Midland Angling & Shooting has been kept off the lough this week with the blustery winds, but he took the opportunity to try something different on the River Inny, and here’s how he got on…

The blustery wind is back so I took shelter on the River Inny and had some sport fishing surface lures. It’s very low and weedy but I got few pike and missed a lot on the small frog and duck lure. Saying this the best fish I struck into was a trout! We were in contact for only a few seconds but I could see the Golden Brown flash and big fan tail as he rolled over on the surface. Ah well, that’s fishing! But I am doing this stretch again quite soon, with small dead baits whipped across the gaps between weed beds.
