The Killybegs Mariners were afloat for the first time this year as they made their first charter boat foray of 2024 with Tuna.ie. The original plan was to target some porbeagle, but with no bites materialising and the weather proving better than expected, they decided to head for deep water to try for a few of the rarer species.

And their decision paid off, as a bluemouth, megrim and haddock were all landed alongside some of the more regular species, giving the anglers a boost on their species lists for 2024.
