Senan Stanley and Daniel Nesbitt were out at the weekend chasing toothy predators on one of Ireland big and wild loughs, but this time they got more than they bargained for…
Wow is all I can say. What an outrageous days fishing that was! An early start meant Daniel and myself were heading on a roadtrip to a different lake. We made a plan the night before to go for all 3 predators Trout, Pike and Perch.
Casting lures for trout produced 3 trout, two brownies and a beastly ferox trout on light spinning tackle. The ferox did its best to shake the hooks doing at least 5 backflips during the battle. Pure heart in the mouth time!!! Unreal craic though.
Then we Switched focus to perch. We finished with 130 perch with the best going 35cm, and the average was 30cm!
Then we had to get the pike. Twenty pike later we called it quits with the 5 best going 111cm, 100cm, 98cm, 98cm, 95cm!
A day not easily forgotten!
