John Chambers reports from the Irish Federation Pike Angling Clubs website at www.angling-in-ireland.com on the October Qualifier which was held on the River Shannon at Castleconnell last Sunday with kind permission of the ESB.
“42 anglers turned up for todays qualifier at Castleconnell. We had hoped for a bigger attendance but a lot of anglers expected the river to be in flood with all the recent rain. Because there is a dam upriver flow is regulated and levels were only up about a foot. With that bit of fresh water it does seem to have put the pike off a bit as catches were not as good as usual.”

The top 5 anglers who go through to fish in the Final of the Kingspan National Pike Championships are
