Belmullet Sea Angling Club held their annual Team Shore Angling Competition on Sunday, 16th October. Five teams weathered the extremely poor conditions, with strong south westerly winds and heavy rain showers at regular intervals.

Despite the poor conditions many participants enjoyed excellent sport throughout the day, with the winning team of Michael Dunleavy and Tony Lally, landing a total of seven varieties. Second place was won by Sylvy Sweeney and Kevin Walsh, who totalled 5 varieties, while third place was taken by Michael Varley and Padraic Forde, with 4 varieties. The captor of the heaviest fish of the day was Tony Lally, who landed a pollack of 4.8lbs.

Varieties caught included coalfish, pollack, ballan wrasse, conger eel, dogfish and flounder.
