The Rye Water
Season 1st March – 30th September
The Sheet of Water
With Pike fishing now in full swing on the Rye Lake the Rainbows on the Sheet of water have been getting a bit of a breather over the last week with little fishing activity on this stretch of water. The colder weather is now featuring fish less inclined to feed near the surface although unweighted patterns with plenty of ‘movement’ should still provide plenty of good sport.
For anyone considering fishing this area for the first time the standard river set up of 5 weight rod and floating line will be perfectly adequate.
The Rye Lake
Pike fishing as already mentioned is in full swing. Although exact details are not to hand yet Leixlip Anglers had their annual Pike competition on the lake last Sunday. Carton Ghillie Jonathan Watkins finished a close 3rd with quite a number of fish caught on the day.
Also fishing (although not taking part in the competition) on Sunday was David O’Hagan who managed to land this 14lb fish near the Island at the lower end of the lake.
