Angling guide and ghillie, Vincent Appleby reports on the latest fishing reports from Lough Currane.
1/3/12 Lough Curran was on the flat calm side all day and there was no reports great excitement, but to be fair the elements were against my noble fly fisher. Now we head out to Sea and to all you Bass anglers who like off shore accounts, Mr Kevin Braine of www.kbfishingireland.com Was telling me that he has had some good Bass fishing in the past week.
2/3/12 There was a strong SE wind blowing across the Lake and ideal for the fly but my Noble Salmon thought otherwise, or you could say that my Noble Fly Anglers failed miserably in their duties in procuring my Noble Salmon, and those Anglers that were manipulating there lures didn’t fair much better. Wind as already stated and overcast.
3/3/12 All the Head lines go to Mr. Hughie Reid who caught a fine 9 ¼ lb. Salmon on the troll fishing out www.oshealoughcurrane.com and Hughie was telling me that it was his first ever Salmon, and may it be the first of many, and for the rest of we so called anglers, lessons can be learnt i.e. if your not out there you can’t catch my Noble Salmon. Wind NW light to fresh with the odd shower.

4/3/12 Lough Currane may of been on the cold side with a NNE light breeze going across the Lake plus a small amount of snow on the hill, but this didn’t deter Mr. Peter Keenan, catching a fine 6 lb. Salmon on the troll with his Gillie Mr. Bob Priestley. That is your ration for this week, from your Gillie/Guide and the Waterville fishery.
5/3/12 All quiet on the SW front in all departments be it fly or troll. As you may be aware Hooked Live are holding their annual Fishing and Shooting Show at the City West Hotel Dublin next weekend march 10th. and 11th. Waterville Fisheries will be exhibiting at the show and will be located at section D5. So come along and have a chat with Tadhg and Kevin o Sullivan and see what’s on offer should you decide to visit Waterville this year.
6/3/12
There were a few boats out and all failed in their duties in Procuring My Noble Game Fish. Wind SSW light and overcast light misty rain at times.
7/3/12
There was a Strong and at times violent NW wind blowing which didn’t make for good fishing and what boats did venture out, didn’t have much success but to be fair the elements were against my Noble Angler.
No Spin No Fly’s just facts.
