Hamish Currie of Predator II has a battle on his hands when he meets a monster shark. He tells us:
Here is what I believe to be the largest Porbeagle shark ever caught in this country & was taken by myself 41km n/nw of red bay.
The battle lasted 2hrs 10mins and the bait was a live 3lb Pollack.
I always said that if I caught a record porbeagle then I would bring it ashore and claim the record for it,as at 2.7 metres long & 1.7 metres on the girth then the 365lb. was easily beaten but I just didn’t have the heart so she was very quickly tagged and released tag no.43151 you can see from a still taken from our underwater camera that she was fine and will live to fight another day which is more than I can say for myself after the battle.
It was the only shark taken that day but in my books it wasn’t a bad day at the office.
