Michael Flanagan, angling guide and reporter, reports:

Derravaragh Anglers hosted the Murtagh Cup for pike. It was certainly a mixed day weather and fishing, and the pike were reluctant to take the bait. Mind you local Angler Liam Gilsenan charmed a cracking pike into taking his lure, and produced a super fish of 15lbs 6oz to take Top Rod.

I fished with Uncle Pat and we had a good day out on Derravaragh. I hooked a good fish just before lunch, but could not hold onto to the fish.  Pat got a run on a dead bait later in the evening, and finished 2nd with 6lbs 3oz, Glore chairman Eddie o, Donnell was 3rd. Presentation took place back in Murtaghs Bar, and it was a lovely evening with super food and mouth watering pints of Guinness. I notice a few posters up on the wall, and local coarse Angler Deckie Byrne is playing in Murtaghs regularly at the weekend. Certainly a cracking night out.
