Just before the floodwater last week Michael Flanagan received reports that the River Inny was fishing well for pike. He ‘missed the boat’ as they say and did not make it to Derravaragh until the weekend. The lake was very high, and the River was out in the fields with floodwater. As he stood at Donore Shore I could look straight into the Roach Hole, which is normally blocked out by high reeds. Michael ventured down the lake into deep water, heading for Knockoine and had a lovely double around 12lbs on the troll. Michael reckons it’s worth a trip in the coming weeks, but wrap up well, it is bitter cold on the lake.

Derravaragh Anglers will hold their A.G.M. in Murtagh Pub on February 22nd at 8pm. Motions for debate should be forwarded to Secretary Joe Keena before February 8th.Membership is open for the coming season and Joe Keena can be contacted @ 087-1608138.
