Angling Report 13th May from Billly Downes for Laune
Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.
As of Monday 13th May water now at 2 feet 6 inches on the gauge at Johnston’s. Beautiful water for all methods.
No word of fish from Laune Anglers waters for the week.
Highlight of the week was the event run by Laune Anglers for Fisheries Awareness Week on Beat 3 on Saturday It was attended by 16 very enthusiastic young anglers who were shown angling techniques by members of the association. Only two little trout were caught but we think a few new anglers were ‘hooked on fishing’
Permits for Laune Anglers up to the end of July cost only €25 per day.
Beat 3:
Water on Beat 3 is lovely at the moment and a few fish are still running the river but hard to apprehend.
Prospects: If the angling effort improves a few fish well be caught but all anglers I know are waiting for nice warm winds from the South West to bring weather which makes being on the river bank a pleasure even if no fish are being caught.
Anglers please note: A ‘One Day’ salmon permit for Beat 3 only costs €25 probably the best value in salmon fishing in the country with a good chance of a fish.
River Laune Beats 1 and 2
1 salmon of 10lbs landed on Beat 2 by a Cork Angler on worms.
