Skipper of the Leah, Donal Kennedy reported on Wednesday, 7th August 2013 a party of anglers from Castlebar set out from Killala Harbour.  A heavy shower had just finished as they departed and the sun broke through, with calm seas for the rest of the day. Mackerel were in great supply, with the group soon boating a variety of gurnard, pouting and coalfish. The next drift produced some quality fish including cod, the best up to 5lbs as well as some fine Pollock, the heaviest up to 8lbs. The only problem the anglers experienced was trying to get down to the bottom through the huge shoals of mackerel. The ever present LSD was caught in numbers and returned alive.
