Galway Buccaneers SAC congratulate Danny Sweeney on winning leg 9 of our Shore Master Angler series and report:

A cold Novembers evening greeted our anglers as they lined up for the penultimate leg of our shore master angler series.

The beach was free from weed however after arriving in darkness the competitors were unaware of a bank of weed that was floating behind the main breaker. The main target species of dogs and whiting were going to be hard got and several rigs were lost in their pursuit.

A change of tactics was sought and scrathing rigs were baited up and lobbed into the wash to try and winkle out a few flats and coalfish.

Danny Sweeney landed the first fish of the night a coalie while Rob King landed a counting flounder and a counting coalie soon after, Conor Mountaine meanwhile was finding it tough going on peg 1 with weed causing problems and Norbert Zimmerer was fairing no better on the end peg. Conor managed to get off the mark eventually and as the last casts went out it could have went anyway and indeed the long time leader Rob King was just pipped to first place by Danny who landed another coalie at the death to take 1st place. Full result to follow ~ The Committee

Thanks to all who came out and fished see you all at the last leg  ~ The Committee
