Billy Downes of the Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association reports that as of Monday 27th July the water level has now fallen to a lovely 1.1m at the Laune Bridge or 1 foot 6 inches at Johnston’s. Still beautiful water for all methods and should last for the week unless it goes up more. News of fish is still scarce enough but a few were caught during the week and a few met mostly grilse but there was one fish of 15 lbs landed from Johnston’s on the fly.

On the good news front the netting in Cromane will end on Friday and the Laune nets will be operating four days per week from next Tuesday. Hopefully this will improve anglers chances of a fish.
Beat 3: The Beat 3 water level is still nice and a few fish must be holding up there now.
