Billy Downes, Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association, reports on the fishing on the Laune…

As of Sunday 24 May the water level is at 1.4m at the Laune Bridge which is about 2 feet on the gauge at Johnston’s. This makes for beautiful water for all methods. Some lucky members met fish during the past week and among the best landed were fish of 14 lb. and a 9 pounder.   A good few sea trout are around and a there are few being caught up to 2 lbs.

This past week has been the best week so far salmon and trout. Lets hope we continue to get a few in the coming weeks. Conditions will be ideal as far as water and tides are concerned.
