Eileen Carroll Murphy IFI reports from the Killarney Lakes, Lough Leane and Flesk for the week ending Sunday 8th March 2015:
RIVER LAUNE BEATS 1 AND 2
Very little rod effort mainly due to weather.
LAUNE SALMON AND TROUT ANGLERS’ ASSOCIATION WATERS AND BEAT 3
Billy Downes, Secretary Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association reports:
Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.
As of Monday 9th March water level at the Laune Bridge has gone up slightly to 1.9 M. and the temperature has gone up towards 7 degrees.
Not a lot to report from Laune Anglers waters except that the water is very high and angling effort is low. There are good tides this week and the river is running fairly clear so suitable for all methods but on the high side.
There are fish running the system as fish continue to be caught in the Flesk and the lakes.
Later in March good spring sea trout will be met in the Laune and will be caught on all methods especially bright spinning baits.
Prospects: I think I said this time last year that 2014 would have to be better than 2013 it the same this time, surely 2015 can’t be as bad as 2014.
Permits for Laune Anglers waters for September will cost €35 still excellent value compared to other fisheries and the chances of a fish.
