There was a small improvement in fishing last week on the Bandon with about 8 fish reported mainly small grilse and two coloured salmon…

Grilse and some bigger salmon are now beginning to run in better numbers. On Wednesday (24 June) 4 fish were caught on Bandon Angling Association waters with a further 2 fish lost. 2 were fresh grilse of around 4lbs, the other 2 were salmon 8-10lbs which had been in the system a week or so. On Friday fresh grilse were seen above Baxters Bridge, underlining once again that they don’t need a flood to run.

Michael Foran’s salmon taken on a trout fly.

Michael Foran adapted his tactics to the low water conditionson Sunday (28 June) and caught a lovely 12lb fish on a bead headed trout fly. On such a light set up, the fish put up a great fight. A couple more fish were also lost.

The river rose 8 inches on on Sunday evening, so is a little fresher again.
