Shane Gallagher, fishery manager at the Drowes Salmon Fishery is pleased that the fishing has improved on the Drowes and reports:
Two more fish were reported yesterday. Tony Mc Cabe had the first fish of the season on fly on a Willie Gunn variant from the Upper Mill, 10lbs 6oz this morning. This afternoon Eddie Roulston had a sea liced fish of 9lbs 4oz on a rapalla from the Grazings.
There were more fish seen in the river today which is an encouraging sign of a more significant run of fish than we have seen this season to date.
The water conditions remain good at 0.62 metres on the gauge. http://waterlevel.ie/0000035029/0001/
The forecast for the weekend is for a cold, mainly dry Saturday followed by a much wetter day on Sunday, turning windy and colder for the start of next week.
