Keady and District Angling Club reports a great turn out and a great day’s fishing for those who fished Pauric Donnelly’s School Aid Romania fundraiser. The day was a big success for the anglers and for Pauric who worked hard to get sponsorship for this worthy cause.

Winners on the day were as follows:

  • Heaviest bag –  Shane Fisher
  • Second heaviest bag – Raymond Leonard
  • Heaviest fish –  Harry McCooey
  • Second heaviest fish – David McGuinness
  • Third heaviest fish – Mickey Kirk

In the junior section, Michael Kinsella won the heaviest bag and Padraig McKenna won the heaviest fish. The club don’t expect much thanks for reporting on who caught smallest pike on the day, but given his name Jake Fisher was bound to be remembered for his achievement!

Upcoming events

The annual Christmas event will be taking place on Wednesday 28th December. Check in at the square at 8am with fishing 9am until 3pm. More details nearer the time.

Go fishing…

While members of the Keady & District Angling Club fish for most species of fish, the Club is a Pike (Esox lucius) angling club. The club organizes regular Pike fishing events, usually held on a Sunday, with fishing running from 11am until 4pm. The Club also has a proud tradition of encouraging the young people from the wider area to pursue angling as a hobby and this is one of the most worthwhile aspects to club life.
