Lindsey Clarke reports from LOUGH MELVIN – Monday 13th to Sunday 26th June 2016 (2 weeks).
The reports from Lough Melvin over the past fortnight have been variable. Trout fishing has been good on some days and very poor on others. The mayfly hatch seems to be over already which is not surprising given that it started very early this season. There has been little angling effort for salmon despite the lough now containing large numbers of grilse. Most rods fishing the Northern Ireland portion of the lough have long since used their 2 tags and are not fishing the lough now. There were some 10 grilse caught for the week, all by trolling.
