Billy Downes,  Secretary of the  Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association  report – 25th April 2016

Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association waters and Beat 3.

As of Monday 25th April water at a lovely 1.25 M at the Laune Bridge fallen from 1.7 M a week ago.  Perfect water for all methods.  A few sea trout are being encountered the best I heard of was a lost fish of about four lbs on spinner.  There was a trout of two lbs landed and released by a visiting angler on Saturday.  Sadly this trout, a sea liced fresh fish was ‘mesh marked’  which anglers will not be pleased to hear four weeks before the legal draft netting season begins.  But nothing new there.

If you get the timing right there is a chance of a fish during the rest of April and early May.  More sea trout are also be in prospect, most likely spinning or worm but some have also been caught on fly already.

Prospects: There is a chance if you venture out especially with ideal water just now.

Permits for Laune Anglers waters from now to 31st July cost only €25 excellent value compared to other fisheries and the chances of a fish.
