Billy Downes of the Laune Salmon and Trout Anglers’ Association reported that the Laune was looking beautiful over the weekend with the water level heading for a lovely 1.3m at the Laune Bridge or about 2 feet at Johnston’s. Billy tells us it was lovely to fish last Wednesday and to hook and land a nice brown trout on my salmon fly. My fishing partner for the day landed two nice 11 inch trout while spinning for a sea trout.
On 21 March a good spring sea trout of 4 lbs was landed at Paul Connors. Water still lovely at just under 2 feet at Johnston’s. This is the time of year for large sea trout on the Laune now till the end of April.
Give it a go during Easter.
