Max Couque from Galway Fishing reports that after four months at looking at the Leaca Rua on the pontoon in Rossaveal and not be able to go fishing, he decided to make his first outing of the year over the weekend, as the nice weather had finally arrived. Max brought his daughter and a friend and his son fishing on Sunday and the weather was absolutely fabulous. Max said that they decided to go fishing around the Aran Islands, between Inishmaan and Inishmore in the Gregory sound, with his new Humminbird sounder from Navicom. The first few drifts were very poor, but when we got closer to the change of tide around 12.00, the fishing improved a lot. We caught a dozen of pollack with the biggest being around 5 pounds. Everybody got fish and of course as usual Marine my daughter got the biggest one (9 year old). The pollack are ready to spawn, another week or two and they will have the job done and they will start to eat again!!
