With some bait left over from Sundays Carty’s land and sea sports league in Mullaghmore comp we hit the local cove to find ideal conditions of a lovely surf smashing down into the sand kicking up sandeel and worms for the gorging flatties and sure enough a nice 39cm flounder on the 1st cast was quickly followed by a treble shot of flounder the longest being 38cm and a few double shots as the shoal of flatties fed hard over that stage of the tide.
Things got more civil after that burst but some fine coley to 35cm and turbots close in and dogs as the sun went down its a great time of year on the beaches as fish fatten up before the winter spawning.
Next Mariners league outing will take place this Friday evening Nov 11th on Inver beach 20.00pm – 00.00am. New members always welcome to join any time few hours fishing fun and good prizes.
