Water levels are low throughout Camlin system down to and around the Lough Ree area. This accompanied with a lot of excessive weed growth is making the fishing difficult in some areas. That being said there has been some excellent pike fishing of late. The use of surface lures provides for great fun in shallow bays often giving some spectacular takes. This has been a popular method in and around North Lough Ree and while a lot of jack pike are being caught the more persistent anglers are catching some good double figure fish. There were a lot of good pike caught throughout the lake at the recent Camlin Anglers Pike Classic.
