Joe Tiernan had a red letter day last month and kindly sent on this incredible report…
Monday September 4 2017 started off with heavy rain, but I was scheduled to go fishing and consequently nothing was going to stop me. At 9:30 my gillie arrived in boat with rods set up. Soon after we cast off with refreshments to carry us over the day. It turned out to be the most successful day ever for me fishing with my usual loyal gillie Pat Healy on the river Shannon close to my manor home on Lough Boderg.
In 4 hours hours I caught 5 large pike ranging from 20lb to 27 lb (110 cm) along with some other smaller fish.
Each of the large pike put up a great fight and it was a big struggle to land these fish. But once they were safely boated we released each one hoping that other fishermen can experience the same thrill I had. [#CPRsavesfish]
After we got back to shore I hosted a monster BBQ to celebrate a magnificent fishing day. Pat Healy, my gillie, and Joe Mc Dermott, had won the 2017 world pike fishing championship and we were joined by my lifelong friend Donal Conlon, proprietor of well known, long established, near by Carnadoe Marina.
