Last week Noel Fitzmaurice landed and returned the first spring fish of the year from Glenda Powell’s beats on the Munster Blackwater. This was just the 2nd fish of the year reported to the office from the river and the first of eyar returned to the river.
Glenda reports that it was like a summers day out here on the 19th of February when the fish was caught with temperatures of 13C(a far cry from the cold weather we have now!).

Blackwater Salmon Fishery has 3 beats downstream of the weir and 2 upstream of the weir. Blackwater Salmon Fishery offers fishing on approximately 5 miles of the river Blackwater. The fishing is spread throughout the middle section of the river to offer good sport throughout the fishing season. Due to the location of the beats, fishing can still usually be offered in low or high water.
